Don't you hate when you have an idea an someone do it first?. LOL, at least it was a nice idea.... My idea was much better I think, and since Connecteopea is open source I could try to modify it at will but I don't have much time to do it right now unfortunatelly.

In other news: I created a forum for the scientific community of Argentina called www.acidobase.com.ar. It is my very first forum. Trying to get people connected I also opened in the same forum a site for college students. I thught it wouldn't harm the researchers part, but now I have my doubts. I have the impression that scientifics are reluctant to post comments where they see a board for students. What do you think?

Probably I will split the forum, so I can move the scientific part to another domain. If you known an Argentinean researcher feel free to send him or her the URL of the site so he/she can get to know the forum.

My idea is to try that researchers from Argentina could connect and talk about their problems, in a single site, so ideas and solutions can flow fast. In case of you don't know, Argentina is a third world country, which implies that has half of the population under the line of poverty, and the other half survives. A very small percent lives decently and corruption is normal whitin the high and medium sferes. I think that the only solution is to concientize the people that they have to oblige their polititians and judges to be honest.

It's late and I'm very depressed today by the whole situation. Corruption is SO everywhere that I can't see the "light at the end of the tunnel" for my beloved country.Carlahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12910436576810253623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13031546.post-1146904313169846832006-05-06T01:31:00.000-07:002006-05-06T01:31:53.180-07:00Ithaki.net Search Engine: News & Development BlogIthaki.net Search Engine: News & Development BlogCarlahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12910436576810253623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13031546.post-1136657779277914762006-01-07T10:02:00.000-08:002007-01-11T05:15:18.470-08:00Ithaki.net's NEW version! / Ithaki's and Ithaki's got censored by GoogleHi,
I'm on my vacations right now so I hope to finish Ithaki's NEW version.

The new version will have:
data clustering
better and simpler user interface
ability to save preferences
more search options
image display.

I'm continuing with my Cystic Fibrosis research, so probably it will contain a version of PUBMED somewhere.

Ithaki.net recetly got banned from Google, this means you won't be able to find a single page of Ithaki despite the numerous sites that have links to Ithaki.net.
This situarion is odd because Ithaki don't fetch Google's results directly, it uses other search engines that use Google, as for example AOL. I guess they have changed from the times they begged Dogpile developers to be included in their search results (you can read the story on the usenet written by a Dogpile developer).

With me luck with the new version!.

Best regards,
Carla Tironi FarinatiCarlahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12910436576810253623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13031546.post-1118118844766517332005-06-06T21:20:00.000-07:002005-12-06T00:41:19.500-08:00Promotion / Marketing Help Needed!!!Hi People!,

I'm still looking to people to help me to promote Ithaki.
It's really easy, it's just about writing some press releases and do some web promotions in the forums/blogs about search engines.
I realized that Ithaki needs some promotion because I'm tired to get mails that tell me "Pretty useful, I didn't know about it".
So if you want to help to promote Ithaki just send me a line!.

I just started to do some experimental lab research about Cystic Fibrosis.

peace,
Carla

Ps. Right now, there's a kind of hype with blogs that I suppose will end soon as it happens with all the hypes. But eventually you can discover some things. I'll try to post things often

Keep evolving! ;)
Peace,
CarlaCarlahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12910436576810253623noreply@blogger.com
