Updates on Ithaki / New scientific forum for Argentinean fold
Hi,I'm pretty busy right now so I haven't had many time to update Ithaki.
I had a idea about a site to comment scientific articles and today I found out Nature created something similar called Connectopea!. Don't you hate when you have an idea an someone do it first?. LOL, at least it was a nice idea.... My idea was much better I think, and since Connecteopea is open source I could try to modify it at will but I don't have much time to do it right now unfortunatelly.
In other news: I created a forum for the scientific community of Argentina called www.acidobase.com.ar. It is my very first forum. Trying to get people connected I also opened in the same forum a site for college students. I thught it wouldn't harm the researchers part, but now I have my doubts. I have the impression that scientifics are reluctant to post comments where they see a board for students. What do you think?
Probably I will split the forum, so I can move the scientific part to another domain. If you known an Argentinean researcher feel free to send him or her the URL of the site so he/she can get to know the forum.
My idea is to try that researchers from Argentina could connect and talk about their problems, in a single site, so ideas and solutions can flow fast. In case of you don't know, Argentina is a third world country, which implies that has half of the population under the line of poverty, and the other half survives. A very small percent lives decently and corruption is normal whitin the high and medium sferes. I think that the only solution is to concientize the people that they have to oblige their polititians and judges to be honest.
It's late and I'm very depressed today by the whole situation. Corruption is SO everywhere that I can't see the "light at the end of the tunnel" for my beloved country.

I am wondering why I am unavailable to access kids.ithaki.net. Is this a temporary situation? I hope so as I find this a very useful website for my students.
Cheers.
